Germany’s human rights policy
German human rights policy has one concrete goal: to protect people against violations of their rights and fundamental freedoms.
Human rights have many faces. Children, women, activists, people with disabilities, victims of torture and human trafficking – they all need our special protection.
Areas of action
The Federal Foreign Office, via its missions abroad, supports a wide range of projects aimed at protecting human rights. You can find a few examples here.
Since January 2014 Christoph Strässer is Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid at the Federal Foreign Office. The Commissioner is the contact person for questions relating to human rights policy and humanitarian aid.
