The Guyana Heritage Society, on the 23rd of October 2013, launched the reprint of the famous book by Robert Hermann Schomburgk "12 Views in the Interior of Guiana". This book was first published in 1840. The author, born in Freyburg/Unstrut - Germany, had been travelling for 4 years all over the area now known as Guyana. He collected information on all subjects which are part of Natural History. One of the most striking was the discovery of the Giant Water Lilly - Victoria Amazonica, which today is the national flower of Guyana.

The book was reprinted for the first time by the Guyana Heritage Society in 2010 with financial support of the German and Dutch Governments. The second reprint was made possible through the untiring efforts of the German Honorary Consul in Guyana, Ben ter Welle. It was sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guyana, Pharsalus Gold Inc. as well as GT&T.
Robert Schomburgk came back to Guyana for a second visit of almost four years with his brother Richard Moritz. During his second visit he was "Commissioner of Boundaries" on behalf of the British Government and surveyed the borders of Guyana with its neighbors. Over 90 % of the present borders of Guyana were the ones suggested by Schomburgk.
