In 2011 the Africa Festival in Würzburg, biggest festival for African music and culture in Europe, adjourned to the shores of the Caribbean. The opening act for the festival was no other than Trinidad and Tobago’s living Calypso legend Calypso Rose. During the festival Trinidad and Tobago was represented by a steel band, local food and of course Calypso Rose. A brand new film about the 5 time winner of the Calypso Queen title was shown as well.
On Friday, 18 February 2011, Calypso Rose was presented an award for her life time achievement. German Ambassador Stefan Schlüter had the honour to hand over the price to her during a performance at a fete at Jean Pierre Complex in Port of Spain.
