On Thursday 4 November 2010, German Ambassador Stefan Schlüter handed over the prices for the ”Quiz about Germany” which was printed in the supplements for the National Day of Germany. From the 5 winners, 3 were able to attend the price giving function which took place at the Embassy itself. Winners answered all questions correctly.
Ambassador Schlüter took the time to chat with the winners and found out that some of them had special ties to Germany. Third price winner Mrs Ramsewak won a book called “Peeling the Onion” by German Nobel-Price winner Günter Grass. She is currently learning German as her daughter lives in Germany.
Althea Lewis, winner of German pop-swing music by well known artist Roger Cicero, started to learn German a long time ago. She said, they always had a lot of fun during the lessons.
Fist price winner Marsha Burgin-Augustine came with her little daughter. She was surprised and happy when she found out that she won the first price of the competition, as it was the first time she participated at any quiz. She won a beautiful coffee-table book about Berlin, the capital of Germany.
The Embassy thanks all participants of the Quiz. As we received a lot of positive feedback, we will surely have another one in our supplements for our National Day next year!
